Friday night.
Angeles city, Philippines.
Tonight, I ate at what is undoubtedly the best restaurant in Angeles
City, Philippines. I dined on the Friday night special, which was soup
du jour, consisting of cauliflower and cheese, for my starter. This was
followed by poached whitefish with white sauce on the side, with peas
and also mashed potatoes. I also had a fresh mango milkshake, made with
fresh ripe mango and fresh milk. A short while into the meal, I also
ordered a half carafe of white wine.
The restaurant is called Ray’s Pub and Restaurant. Clive Pollington
runs it, and it’s located at 209 Raymond Street. The prices were as follows:
Soup -- 80 pesos.
Special of the day, fish and peas and mashed potatoes -- 210 pesos.
Mango milkshake -- 65 pesos.
Half carafe of white wine -- 150 pesos.
The total price was 505 pesos. The current exchange rate is 55 pesos
to the dollar. In United States dollars, the total price for the meal
was $9.18.
This meal, which was extraordinarily high quality and very delicious,
would easily cost me $60 in the United States. The fish was remarkably
fresh, tender, and tasty, with the white sauce on the side.
